Oeschiwald Playground

Children's playground in Kandersteg village

Location

One of the best playgrounds in Kandersteg and easily the most complete option for a family afternoon.

Located on the edge of the forest, Oeschiwald combines large play structures with plenty of open space and shaded areas. Children can spend a surprisingly long time here thanks to the variety of equipment.

  • Zip line
  • Large climbing structures
  • Slides
  • Swings
  • Trampoline
  • Climbing wall
  • Tunnels
  • Forest surroundings
  • Official barbecue area with fire pit

The nearby grilling area makes it a great place for a picnic lunch or a relaxed evening after a mountain excursion.

Suitable age

Best for ages 2–12, although toddlers can also enjoy parts of the playground with supervision.

How to get there from Chalet Dahai

Around 15–20 minutes on foot through the village and forest edge, or a few minutes by car.

Playground at Hotel des Alpes

Location

This is probably the most convenient playground for families staying at Chalet Dahai.

Located only a few minutes away on foot, the playground sits beside the small ponds and open green spaces near Hotel des Alpes. It feels quieter than some of the larger playgrounds and works particularly well for younger children who don’t need a full adventure playground to stay entertained.

One of the nicest parts is the setting itself: small lakes, ducks and farm animals nearby, mountain views and enough space for children to wander safely without feeling confined to a fenced playground.

Facilities

  • Playground equipment for younger children
  • Open grassy areas
  • Small lakes and ponds
  • Farm animals nearby
  • Restaurant terrace
  • Easy walking paths
  • Benches and shaded seating

The playground belongs to the hotel and restaurant area, making it an easy stop for coffee, lunch or an ice cream while children play.

Playground Kandersteg Blumselialp hotel

Suitable age

Best for ages 1–7.

How to get there from Chalet Dahai

Around 2–3 minutes on foot.

Leave Chalet Dahai and head towards the main road and walk towards right side. The playground is directly beside the hotel grounds and can easily be combined with a short walk around the ponds.

Why families love it

This is often the playground that gets used the most during a stay simply because it’s so easy. No planning, no transport and no mountain excursion required.

Perfect for:

  • Before dinner
  • A quick play session after a hike
  • Morning coffee while children play
  • Toddlers who still need multiple outdoor breaks during the day

After taking the Oeschinensee cable car and walking down towards the lake, children will find a small lakeside playground near the restaurants and picnic areas.

The setting is what makes this one special: mountain views, turquoise water and plenty of space to run around after the walk.

Facilities

  • Play equipment for younger children
  • Open grassy areas
  • Nearby restaurants
  • Lakeside picnic spots

The walk from the cable car station to the lake is stroller-friendly for most families and it takes approximately 25 minutes (or longer with toddlers that stop constantly).

Suitable age

Best for ages 1–8.

Walk approximately 20 minutes to the Oeschinensee cable car station, take the gondola, then continue about 25–30 minutes on foot to the lake.

A quieter playground option away from the busier tourist spots.

Its location close to the forest makes it particularly pleasant on warmer summer days when children need shade and parents want somewhere less crowded.

  • Open space for running and games

Suitable age

Best for ages 2–10.
